does REI drug test new employees?

apparently the postions at the Distribution Center do and its listed in the job description, but not for any of the others for the regular stores. why is that?

Yes. What I was told is that statistically people that do drugs are more likely to commit crimes in order to continue their drug habit they can't afford. So if you're at a distribution center a box from the shipment might get "lost" and never make it to the store. They also need people that are going to be reliable, so they need you to show up on time at work to get the shipments out on time.

I'm surprised to see that they don't say they test new employees in the regular stores. The REI store near me definitely does pre-employment screening for anyone who has access to the cash register or deals with customers in the store.
